To prevent damage, fire extinguishers should be mounted on brackets or in wall cabinets. They should also be placed in areas that are quickly and easily accessible. The NFPA recommends having at least one fire extinguisher on every floor in the home.
Kidde fire extinguishers should be stored in temperatures ranging from -40 degrees to 120 degrees Fahrenheit to prevent the extinguisher from being damaged. Fire extinguishers stored below -40 degrees Fahrenheit may result in the extinguisher's valve or hose cracking. At temperatures above 120 degrees the fire extinguisher will still function, but the discharge time may be a little shorter than the 9 to 10 seconds required by UL.
