Temperature variations, such as opening the door on a cold winter day, can cause rapid temperature changes to occur. Condensation can then form which can cause a false alarm. This can also occur should the alarm be close to an open vent or window on a cold day.
Avoid mounting the smoke detector in rooms with large / fast temperature fluctuations.
