Dr. Carrier is the acknowledged Father of Air Conditioning, and his legacy of environmental stewardship today remains an important part of Carrier’s ongoing innovation and leadership.
In 1818, Jeremiah and Charles Chubb patented the world’s first detector lock, designed the first burglar and fire-resistant safe, and grew a company that would become a pioneer in fire prevention and today protects some of the most prestigious and vulnerable sites around the world.
Robert Edwards produced a series of inventions, including the first electric bell in 1881 inspired by the new science of electricity. His broad vision would result in today’s modern Edwards, an industry standard for the largest industrial, OEM and commercial installed base of signaling devices in the world.
In 1917, Walter Kidde founded the Walter Kidde Company, which produced the first integrated smoke detection and carbon dioxide extinguishing system for use on board ships.
