Description

The Kidde KN-COU-B is a carbon monoxide monitor that indicates to the presence of low CO levels. Like smoke and CO alarms, this CO monitor samples the air in your home and sounds a loud alarm to warn you of life threatening conditions. In addition, this monitor will indicate low levels of CO (below 30 PPM) which may have health implications if you suffer from certain pre-existing health or medical conditions.

The digital display feature adds an advanced level of monitoring showing CO levels as low as 10 PPM. This monitor includes a slide-out battery door that gives immediate access to the batteries and a safety feature that makes it difficult to close the door without the batteries being installed. Easy installation options include wall mount or table top placement. A quick reference guide of possible alarm conditions is included, and inside cover of battery door explains what to do in case of an alarm.

The KN-COU-B is UL 2075 listed and includes a 10-year limited warranty. This carbon monoxide monitor cannot be used to meet code requirements which require the installation of a CO monitor which complies with the alarm requirements set forth in Underwriter’s Laboratory standard 2034 (UL 2034). 10-Year Life: “If your CO alarm was manufactured prior to 2013, it does not have a 10 year life. Consult your User Guide for additional details, or contact us for more information.” Individuals with potential extreme sensitivities to low CO concentrations due to pre-existing medical and health conditions should consult their health care provider to determine the benefits which may be provided by a low level CO monitor.

  • Provides Warning of Low Levels of Carbon Monoxide – May provide additional protection to those who are sensitive to lower levels of CO such as those who are elderly, pregnant, or have respiratory problems.

  • Digital Display – Continuous display shows CO levels as low as 10 PPM (parts per million). Updates digital reading every 15 seconds to let you see if levels have changed.

  • Fastest Notification – Provides audible and visual notification of CO levels below 30 PPM.

  • Hush Mode – Low level warnings can be silenced by pressing Test/Reset button.

  • Peak Level Memory – Displays the highest CO concentration measured since the last reset.

  • Battery Operated – (3 AA’s included) Provides protection during power outages.

  • Battery Lockout System – Deters covering battery compartment without installation of batteries.

  • Low Battery Signal – Alerts user when the batteries need to be replaced.

  • 10 Year End of Life Warning – Alerts user to replace CO monitor after 10 years of operation

  • 10 Year Limited Warranty

  • UL 2075 Listed

Architectural and Engineering Specifications

The carbon monoxide monitor shall be Kidde Model KN-COU-B or approved equal. It shall be powered by three (3) AA batteries (included). The temperature operating range shall be between 40ºF (4ºC) and 100ºF (37.8ºC) and the humidity operating range shall be 10% - 95% relative humidity. The monitor can be installed on the surface of any wall or table top following the UL/Manufacturer’s recommended placement guidelines. The alarm shall include a battery lockout system that deters closure of the battery door without batteries being installed. The unit shall incorporate 2 LEDs. A green LED will flash once every 30 seconds to indicate normal operation, or flash 4 times every 10 seconds to signal low levels of CO. The red LED will pulse to indicate higher levels of CO have been detected. The monitor shall include a piezoelectric horn that is rated at 85 decibels at 10 feet. When low or mid level concentrations of CO have been detected, the monitor will beep two times every 10 seconds. When high levels of CO are detected the monitor will beep four times every five seconds. The monitor shall include a test button that will electronically simulate the presence of CO and cause the unit to go into alarm. This sequence tests the unit’s electronics to ensure proper operation. The monitor will initiate LED and/or audible notification in the following time range when exposed to the corresponding levels of CO.
